A Letterkenny woman who began shouting in the face of Gardai has been fined in court.
Miranda Orr, who has 18 previous convictions, appeared before Letterkenny District Court in relation to an incident on December 2, 2023.
Orr, a 42-year-old of Glenwood Park, was before the court on public order charges.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that gardai were monitoring a group of people at 3.25am at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny.
Orr, who was in the group, was shouting in the face of gardai and when directed to leave she told officers to ‘take me to the fucking barracks then’.
Sergeant Collins said that Orr, who was highly intoxicated, was ‘calm and apologetic’ when she sobered up.
Of Orr’s 18 previous convictions, two were for offences under the public order act.
Orr’s solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said that a number of parties, including other family members were socialising on the night in question.
Orr, he said, ‘intervened’ in another matter and said his client was ‘remorseful and shameful’ for what happened.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham noted that there were previous convictions and the manner in which Orr spoke to the Gardai.
On a charge of failing to comply with the direction of the gardai, Judge Cunningham fined Orr €250, allowing five months to pay.
A charge of being intoxicated in a public place was marked as taken into consideration by Judge Cunningham.
